- He has Irish ancestry. His parents came to America and they gave birth to Sean in New York in 1961. He has three sisters who are all older than him.
- Sean Hannity actually gave up his education to pursue the profession of his choice. He studied for 3 years in Adelphi University and at New England Institute of Technology of Warwick. However, he never got to graduate because he gave up his education to pursue journalism as his profession of choice. However, he was awarded an honorary degree by the Liberty University.
- His success as a journalist was not immediate. Actually, Hannity had to dabble in a number of different business and jobs before finding his purpose in life. He was committed for 6 months to become a priest but he got turned down. He also at a time tried to become a dishwasher. However, after he left his studies after three years, he opened a house painting business in Rhode Island. His house painting business helped him to save $50,000 in a period of three years. He used that money to get himself started as a building contractor in Santa Barbara.
- Hannity’s career as a journalist started in 1989 when he started hosting his first radio show. However, he got fired within one year with the allegations that he encouraged a guest to make inflammatory remarks. However, this gave him sufficient popularity to land another radio show in Athens, Alabama.
- He joined Fox News in 1996 when he was hired to host a live show called Hannity and Colmes with Alan Colmes. This would be a start of a great career, as his show very rapidly grew in ratings, and it started to develop its own fan following. In fact, a month after the premiere, the show became the second most watched show on the network right after the O’Reilly Factor.
